About This Item
(Johannesburg, Ravan Press, 1974). Report of the Political Commission of the Study Project on Christianity in Apartheid Society. 225 x 164 mm; pictorial wraps; pp. (vi) + 252, incl. index. Wraps a little rubbed; slight curl to fore-edge of lower wrap; previous owner's discreet hand-stamp on half-title; half-title working loose, but holding. Very good condition. "The Commission's problem is simply stated: because it believes that a system which is not firmly based on government by consent and consultation carries within itself the seeds of certain destruction, the Commission sought to suggest or devise a formula which would give all South Africans a meaningful voice in the country's affairs at all levels of administration and policy-making. To be of any value at all however, it was essential that what it proposed had to be practical and to stand at least a reasonable chance of acceptance and implementation under prevailing conditions." .
