Third Edition. lxvii+420pp. Illustrated with 140 engravings. Green cloth boards, stamped and gilt decorated. Ex-lib with inked number on spine and stickers inside the front and rear (never withdrawn). Good condition. Boards are moderately shelfworn with handling grime, have bumped tips, and light fabric fraying at extremities. The gilt titling and decoration remain strong. There is some heavy foxing through the Table of Contents, and again in the last few pages of the Index. Otherwise just widely scattered age and foxing spots. The binding is square and secure. "General arrangement of the popular sports, pastimes, and military games, together with the various spectacles of mirth or splendour, exhibited publicly or privately, for the sake of amusement, at different periods, in England." Originally published in 1801. "A history from the earliest period to the present time." (cfm)
