CARD "WITH THE COMPLIMENTS OF THE AUTHOR" ON FRONT PASTEDOWN ALONG WITH BOOKPLATE GRAFTON AND MARY ADAMS ABBOTT. Mrs. Abbott was the first born child child of Charles Francis Adams and niece of Henry Adams. Scarce first edition, especially with not often seen presentation card from Justice Holmes.
