Book in the "Spectacles for Young Eyes," series of novels, which was created to teach young readers about different cities and cultures around the world. 12mo (6 3/4" tall). 202 pp.With black & white text illustrations and plates throughout. Red cloth binding with gilt-stamping of Russians on upper board. From private collection. 1865 Christmas gift inscription on ffep. Cloth is faded with wer to spine ends and small split to fabric along lower corner of upper board.
