Boston: Lothrop, 1903. First Edition. 307pp. Illus., frontis. Original pictorial cloth. A very nice copy of a book that when it does turn up, is usually in less than satisfactory condition A notable western rarity, this is in the form of a novel, but is really thinly cloaked fact. The author was a reporter for a Chicago newspaper, who covered various incidents in the West, most notably the Johnson County War in Wyoming. Despite the novelistic form, actual names are used and the author gives an interesting narrative of some events. Besides the cattle interest, some native American material is also included. Adams Herd 493. Adams Guns 444 .Initialed pres. copy on front flyleaf.
