Late 19th-century contemporary binding. NOT ex-library. Binding marked "Birdsall & Son, Northampton" on verso of front free endpaper, along bottom edge. Half-bound in maroon leather with gold ruled borders over brown and black mottle-patterned cloth-covered boards. Blue-gray coated endpapers. Top edges gilt. Gilt spine decorations, with gilt title on a green panel. Tissued frontispiece and one additional tissued illustration. Text in French. NOT ex-library. Binding tight. Corners bumped and worn. Light rubbing to spine. Covers have light surface and edge wear. Covers have light staining in a few places. First and last few pages lightly foxed. Text pages clean and unmarked. A few stains on gilt top edges. Some pages uncut (unopened) along fore edge. 423 pages. No dust jacket. Carefully packed, shipped in a box. This item will be shipped with signature confirmation required.
