W.Collins Sons & Co, London, 1945. Early Edition. Cloth. Good/Good. The "With 31 photographs" issue, no date, issued 1938; xii, 284 pages, illustrated, (photographs by Herbert Ponting). Original covers, no dust jacket, 31 photographs as stated, maps to 'to illustrate Journeys of the Western Geological Parties' tipped in at rear. Covers stained, spotting to page edges, not affecting text. A nice copy This is the story of this ill fated expedition. There is a list of all the personnel on the expedition (with their nicknames). It includes both the shore parties and the ship parties. The first illustrated edition, with the now well-known selection of photographs by Ponting, was published in 1938 and has been several times reissued. Early issues are scarce.
