About This Item
Bethesda: National Institute of Neurological Diseases and Blindness, 1967. Spiral_bound. 353p., text reproduced from a keyboard-set ms, spiral bound in 11x8.5 inch copyshop wraps with black plastic spine under a plain printed cover sheet. A handleable useful item that is somewhat edgeworn, the plastic spine is in good shape with a slight crumple to cover's top perforation, back cover has picked up some dust and handling soil and a heavy corner-crease that affects fifty adjacent pages (un-creased as best we could). We have left in situ two rusting paperclips that evidently mark important ideas, an otherwise sound good copy author Gajdusek has inscribed and signed (as "Carleton") to friends on the title page. One of his scarcer (and longer) works. Study of Child Growth and Development and Disease Patterns in Primitive Cultures. Lots on local children, Gajdusek is a warmth magnet. Lots on kuru, a very nasty condition not unlike polio which (it has been concluded) derives from ritual consumption of dead people's brains.
