Chronicles the author's adventures aboard the British royal research ship, Discovery II, the first purpose-built oceanographic research vessel that explored Antarctica with a team of marine biologists & zoologists over a 30-year period. In 308 pages, with a photographic Frontispiece + 15 other illustrations throughout text, map endpapers. A FIRST British Edition from 1938 (published simultaneously in New York & Toronto), this hardcover has green cloth-covered boards with gilt lettering to spine. Condition is VG: very clean, binding straight & strong, pages off-white with very light tanning around edges. Former owner's name in pen inside front cover & an ownership stamp on ffep.
