About This Item

Korea: DapGae Books , 1996. A very scarce bilingual edition published by DapGae Books in Korea as part of the English Translations of Korean Literature Series in association with Cornell University . Translated by Brother Anthony of Taize and Young-Moo Kim. Stiff French-fold multi-color wrappers, 314 pages, with Korean text and English translations en face. This copy INSCRIBED AND SIGNED BY KO UN. Ko Un (born 1933) is a South Korean poet whose works have been translated and published in more than fifteen countries. He had been imprisoned many times due to his role in the campaign for Korean democracy. Many followers of Korean literature believe Ko Un—one of the country’s most revered and prolific writers—will be nominated for a Nobel Prize in Literature. Once a Buddhist monk, then a political dissident, and always a poet, Ko Un is “able to make the intensely personal into work having universal appeal and significance.” Bright and fine throughout. . Signed by Author. First Edition. Soft Cover. Fine.
