About This Item

China: Dell, 1968. First Mass Market Paperback Edition . Soft cover. Fine. Semi-autobiographical collection of essays & letters written while the author was incarcerated at Folsom State Prison, primarily stemming from his political activities with the Black Panthers. Hailed at the time as a "distinctive new literary voice'' that "set the imagination of an entire generation on flame." Orig. published in hardcover in 1968 (see our listing #019166 for a hardcover edition), this is the First Printing of the First mass market paperback edition, also from 1968. From the library of a Stanford graduate, activist, & founding chair of the Theatre Dept at UC Davis, it is in Fine condition--feels & looks nearly new & obviously never opened: completely clean, binding strong & straight, pages moderately tanned, heaviest around edges, but completely supple & unmarked. Nicely protected in new mylar collector bag Free! Our photos depict the Exact book you will receive, never "stock" images of books we don't actually have! Same Day Shipping on all orders received by 2 pm Weekdays (Pacific time); later orders, weekends & holidays ship very next business day.
