London: Ward, Lock & Co., Limited, c1890. Leather. Good. 6.5" by 4.5". None. An uncommon single volume edition of Songs and Verses by G. J. Whyte-Melville. New edition with numerous additions. Contained are numerous poems and hunting songs such as Hero and Leander, The Queen of the Rose, A Cavalier's Song and A Lay of the Ranston Bloodhounds. George John Whyte-Melville (1821 - 1878) was a Scottish novelist of the sporting-field and a poet. Bound by Thomas Owen, The Library Oswestry with label to front pastedown. In half calf bindings with marbled paper boards. Externally, sound but with slight wear to extremities, slight rubbing and odd marks to boards. Front hinge slightly strained. Internally, generally firmly bound. Bright but with occasional spotting, mostly to first few pages and odd handling marks. Good
