London: F. S. Ellis, 1871. First edition. Octavo, original deep blue-green cloth, spine lettered in 4 lines with one circular ornament, sides each have three circular ornaments in gilt; [these are from designs by D.G. Rossetti], viii, 287, only the lower edges are lightly trimmed; endpapers with binder's ticket of Burn & Co. 8pp., of F.S. Ellis adverts at end, in the state with the fourth edition of Rossetti's Poems advertised on the first page. The book has no printer's imprint anywhere, p. [288], being blank. " In April 1870 Rossetti adapted for this binding a design he had made for the contemporary frame of Beata Beatrix consisting of roundels encircling the rising sun, the moon, and stars. The roundels were placed as those on Swinburne's earlier book Atlanta in Calydon" [quoted from the exhibition catalogue Dante Gabriel Rossetti Poet and Painter, The Royal Academy of Arts London, 1973]. Armorial bookplate [Carlingford], slight foxing to text block, else a fine bright copy. Colbeck: Vol 2 p.800, #28.
