[10], 16, [38] pp., including tipped-in colour frontisp., 9 tipped-in colour plates, w/ all captioned leaves present. Full brown morocco, borders in blind on covers, decorative ruled dentelles in blind, t.e.g. (very minor rubbing, and slight scuffing to hinge at spine), still a NF bright copy. First Flint edition, No. 348 copies, printed from the King James version of Solomon’s cycle of poems, and with Flint’s illustrations containing elements of the Burne-Jones influence. The Riccardi fount was originally designed by Herbert P. Horne, and presents nicely on the handmade laid paper by Charles T. Jacobi. Flint (1880-1969), was a noted Scottish artist and book illustrator, commissioned by the Riccardi Press for a new collaboration with the Medici Society, specializing in limited edition fine press illustrated books. This title would be followed by Malory’s Morte d’Arthur (1910), Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales (1912), and eventually Homer’s Odyssey (1924).
