About This Item
NY: Neale Publishing, 1909. First. Hard Bound. VG, spine faded some as with most Neales./None.. NOTE: THIS BOOK WAS PRINTED WITHOUT A FRONTISE.
The author was a private in one of the most famous Confederate cavalry units, the Ninth Virginia Cavalry, initially led by W.H.F. Lee. His discussion of the battle at Gettysburg is humorous as he states the Confederates could have routed Meade by the end of the second day. He "defeats and discounts" three of the best and fresh Union corps with a couple of general sentences. Approximately half the book deals with the War, the rest his post-War career. A scarce Neale.
Krick 428. Important letter about the Wilderness Campaign included. "...interesting anecdotes on cavalry scouts and Brandy Statiion...
