New York: Simon and Schuster, 1952. First Edition. Hardcover. Fine/Fine. Fine in a Very Good jacket, unclipped ($3.50), generally toned and soiled, lightly rubbed, a few small closed tears at the edges. Grey buckram, toned at the edges, with a pink ink label and gilt lettering on the spine and front board. Square and firmly bound with a red top stain, stamped "Submitted by Shirley Collier Agency" on the front endpaper and title page. Gordimer's second book and her first published outside of South Africa.
