About This Item

New York, N.Y.: Oxford University Press, December 1959. First Edition. Hardcover . Very Good/Good. Octavo in dustjacket worn at edges chipping top & bottom of spine and half inch tears top of folds front and back. Flap is not clipped. Tanning to jacket verso at spine & folds. With streak of black ink transfer top of rear panel verso next to fold. Black textured paper (faux cloth) with white and pale blue lettering along spine and blue tooled illustration front panel. Two splashes of discoloration with the black upper right corner of front board. Top textblock edge dust stained. End pages foxed/tanned especially in gutter front and rear. Previous owner's name inked top right corner of FFEP with date & locations. This is Charles R. Allen, well known early Nazi hunter dedicated to fighting fascism and bringing former Nazis to justice, making this an interesting association copy. Clean, sound copy with tight binding with mildly worn board edges top & bottom. Uncommon first edition, The Sociological Imagination was Mills' 4th book, if one includes collaboration with Hans Gerth, From Max Weber: Essays in Sociology (1946). [234 pp.]
