New York, 1921. Boards. Very Good. The uncommon 1st annual report by Societe Anonyme, the influential avant-garde art society founded by Katherine Dreier, Marcel Duchamp and Man Ray principally to promote experimental art domestically. Among other things, this report serves as the Societe's first attempt at a bibliogrpahy, citing international books, magazines, pamphlets and catalogues which attempt "to arouse in the art world thruout the United States a greater interest in the art which expresses this ever-changing era". The slender report, in its salmon boards, has held up nicely and is clean and solid and very presentable. Very light wear and splintering along the spine crown, otherwise clean as could be and, internally, very sharp, with no writing or markings of any kind. Quarto, 24 black-and-white illustrations accompany the text. The early fire power of the "active membership" was quite impressive, with names such as Katherine Dreier, Marcel Duchamp, Marsden Hartley, Joseph Stella and Man Ray fully committed to this fledgling art society.
