Black coloured boards with gilt coloured titles to the front panel and back strip. In this provocative book, the author, argues the problem with poetry written by women before 1900, was, that it was ignored, but, that it was a form of expression that women were unable to express themselves well in, as most women of that time were poorly educated at best. The author then goes on to look at a extraordinary group of women poets – from Sappho, Aphra Behn, Elizabeth Barrett Browning and Christina Rossetti, to mention but a few.
