About This Item
New York, NY, U.S.A.: Tor, 1985. Mass Market Paperback. Near Fine. 2nd Printing. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall. With most of the world wrapped in a hypnotic deep sleep, Rafe Harald arrives from the moon to find a friend and is shadowed by agents of the failing world government and a mysterious figure known as the Old Man. Paradise? The energy crisis: solved. The population bomb: defused. Wolrd hunger: eliminated. Nuclear disarmament: a reality. But at what price to humanity? For the great power net which has brought about these marvels has a deadly side effect: the transmission beams that carry the power cause all living things in their path to fall into waking dreams, helpless against the force that has awakened while all the world sleeps. This book could be considered Dickson's good/evil alegory. Much darker then most of his stories, with a poetic alegorical style reminiscent of that of C.S. Lewis's classic Space Trilogy. In addition to being a greatly suspenseful book. 255 pages. Some light rubbing on top & bottom & edges of spine and some places on outside edges. Spine is creased. A 1/2" crease on front cover across the bottom right corner..
