New York: Hurd and Houghton, 1868. [FINE BINDING]. Three quarter dark blue morocco leather over blue cloth boards, raised bands, gilt title and panels, t.e.g., (7.75 x 6.25 inches). First Edition. 191 pages; illustrated with 85 woodcuts from life by the author, plus tissue-protected engraved frontispiece. Original wraps bound-in at rear. Drawings engraved on wood by J. Augustus Bogert and James L. Langridge. Based on letters that Darley wrote to his family from England, Switzerland, Germany, Holland, France, and Italy, during a year of travel in June, 1867 to June, 1868. Shows just light general wear, a clean copy in a handsome leather binding with strong shelf presence.. First Edition. Leather. Very Good. Octavo.
