Robert Hale Limited, 1953. Hardcover. Good. 1953. First Edition. 252 pages. No dust jacket. Red cloth boards with black lettering to spine. Binding remains firm. Cracking to gutters, with minor exposure of netting in one or two places. Page 160 has its side edge folded mildly. Pages remain bright and clear with minimal tanning. Foxing to title pages. Boards have mild edge wear with slight rubbing to surfaces. Crushing to spine ends with a little fraying to cloth. A couple of minor bumped corners. Tanning to spine and edges causing lettering to darken. Scuffs and scratches to both boards. Some water staining to back board. Small crease to back board nearest spine.

Jean Plaidy, one of the preeminent authors of historical fiction for most of the twentieth century, is the pen name of the prolific English author Eleanor Hibbert, also known as Victoria Holt. Jean Plaidy’s novels had sold more than 14 million copies worldwide by the time of her death in 1993.
