About This Item

-Fairleigh Dickinson Univerity Press (1994)-. First edition. 285x215mm 187 pages with index. Illustrated in colour and black and white. Cloth. Very good indeed in dustjacket. Sir Tenniel's career was a struggle between his responsiveness to popular taste and his sympathy with views of art that condemned that taste. In his satires of the medieval revival from the 1850s, Tenniel developed a purely visual historicist burlesque that parodied the revival but was also a genuine adaptation of historical forms to a contemporary context. We are specialists in Artists Monographs, Catalogues and Illustrated items. All items are as described and dispatched within 24 hours in a secure package. We are professional booksellers with over 37 years experience, you may order with confidence. Other titles by this artist maybe in stock, please ask for our list or link. Sir John Tenniel.
