Fantasy Books/ Cherry Tree (Kemsley Newspapers Ltd.), London, No date. First British Paperback Edition. Softcover. Good Condition/No Dust Jacket. Illustrator: Cartier. 192 pages, last two pages for further books published by " Cherry Tree Books ", foreword by author. The text is illustrated with four black-and-white full-page illustrations by Cartier. Illustrated front cover, showing pale purple spheres and in the distance a man which is attached to one of these spheres and in the foreground a very frightened young woman -- 1950s style. This book is definitely showing its age. Rubbing, creasing and slight chipping to the book edges. Age marks to the front and back panel. Heavy browning and foxing to the text block edge. There are also other marks to the front fore edge. Foxing and age, owning to the internal pages. Numerous pages have become dogeared to the top and bottom page edges. A 1940s science fiction novel dealing with what maybe in the future and not so friendly aliens. Size: 12mo (standard paperback). Please refer to accompanying picture (s). Illustrator: Cartier. Synopsis

Sinister Barrier is an English language science fiction novel by author Eric Frank Russell. It was first published in book form in 1943 by The World's Work, Ltd. The novel originally appeared in the magazine Unknown in 1939, the first novel to appear in its pages. Russell revised and expanded the book for its first US publication by Fantasy Press in 1948. Most subsequent editions were based on the Fantasy Press version.
