About This Item
New York, NY Four Winds, 1972. Hardcover First Edition (1972), unstated. Good+ in Good DJ: The Book shows indications of careful use: light shelving wear to the lower extremities and some rubbing to the upper rear panel; the faintest sunning along the top and bottom edges of the panels; a tiny snag at the ourside edge of the front panel; the binding remains square and secure; the text is clean. Free of any creased or dog-eared pages in the text. Free of any underlining, hi-lighting or marginalia or marks in the text. Free of any ownership names, dates, addresses, notations, inscriptions, stamps, plates, or labels. A good used copy, structurally sound and tightly bound, showing mild wear and minor, unobtrusive cosmetic imperfections. The DJ shows numerous short, closed tears; moderate rubbing and faint soiling to the panels; a little wear to the extremities; the price has been clipped, as has the lower corner of the inside flap, for whatever reason. Flawed, but serviceable. NOT a Remainder, Book-Club, or Ex-Library. Oblong 8vo. (9.25 x 10.35 x 0.4 inches). Unpaginated (about 32 pages). Illustrated in Sepia tones by Margot Zemach. Language: English. Weight: 17.6 ounces. First Edition (1972), unstated. Hardback with DJ. Margot Zemach (1931 1989) was an American illustrator of more than forty children's books, some of which she also wrote. Many were adaptations of folk tales from around the world, especially Yiddish and other Eastern European stories. Margot won the Caldecott Medal from the American Library Association in 1974. For her contribution as a children's illustrator, Zemach was 1980 and 1988 U.S. nominee for the biennial, international Hans Christian Andersen Award, the highest international recognition for creators of children's books.
