Engraved frontispiece of the author, done 50 years earlier. Title-page variant with a comma after Evelyn. Front cover is loosened but remains intact. "as it was delivered in the Royal Societt the xvth of October, MDCLXII..." "Silva" is in two books in same volume. Together with four additional accounts: "Terra, a philosophical essay of Earth", 1706, third edition; "Pomona, or an appendix concerning fruit-trees...", 1706, fourth edition; "Acetaria, or a discourse of sallets...", 1706, second edition, and "Kalendarium Hortense, or a gardener's almanack", 1706, tenth edition. Clean copy throughout with wide margins. John Evelyn (1620-1706) was a well-known English writer, gardener, and dfiarist, a comtemporary of Pepys. . Fourth Edition. Full Contemporary Calf.
