Boston: Houghton Mifflin Company, 1962. First Edition. Near Fine/Very Good. First edition, first printing stated. Signed by Rachel Carson on the half-title page. Bound in publisher's dark green cloth with gilt stamping to spine and front cover. Near Fine with gilt lightly tarnished, light rubbing to cloth at extremities, light bumping to crown and light splashing to yellow topstain. In a Very Good unclipped edge-worn dust jacket; blank verso is toned and with several tape repairs. A lovely copy of this environmental cornerstone, signed by the author.

Synopsis

Silent Spring is a book written by Rachel Carson and published by Houghton Mifflin in September 1962. The book is widely credited with helping launch the environmental movement. When Silent Spring was published, Rachel Carson was already a well-known writer on natural history, but had not previously been a social critic.
