1924. unbound. 10 x 8-inch bust portrait of Sokoloff holding a cigarette. Inscribed (but not personalized) at the height of his success "with best wishes from Nicolai Sokoloff Jan 27th 1924." Small faint crease in the lower left corner; very good condition.<br/><br/> Sokoloff was head of San Francisco Philharmonic Orchestra where he was the first conductor of a major orchestra to insist on including women (1916). Asked to leave in 1918, he continued as head of the Cleveland Orchestra.<br/><br/>
