Small Quarto (9 1/2 x 6 3/8 inches; 240 x 160 mm), 277, [1] pages, in blue cloth, titles to spine, in an unclipped, illustrated dust jacket.

SIGNED by Nadine Gordimer on the title page. Set in South Africa (like most of Gordimer's novels), this is the story of how a family is drawn into the struggle against apartheid. Gordimer (1923-2014) won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1991, one year following the publication of this novel.

CONDITION: Fine in a Near Fine dust jacket that has light edge wear and a couple of scratches on the lower panel. Overall, a beautiful copy.
