About This Item
Book Description: Atheneum, New York, 1990. Hardcover. 2nd printing. Book Condition: Near Fine. Binding is tight and square. Not remaindered. Dust Jacket Condition: Near Fine. Just some very minor bumping — normal shelf wear. Not price clipped. No chips or tears. Beautiful copy.
Signed and inscribed by the author on the title page: "To Dabney Hart, Reynolds Price". Also included is a wonderful postcard to Dr. Hart on Price's personal card stock with his address — Reynolds Price, 4813 Duke Station, Durham, NC 27706 — across the top (see photo). It reads: "Dr. Hart — Those are generous welcome words. Good hopes for your own life and work. Sincerely, Reynolds Price." Apparently in response to a note she had written to him. Dr. Dabney Hart taught at FSU, the University of Wisconsin, and was assoc. professor of English at Georgia State University until her retirement in 1993. She studied in England, where she met C.S. Lewis. He became a focus of her work and she became a well-known Lewis scholar. Her book, “Through the Open Door: A New Look at C.S. Lewis” was published in 1984. This is a beautiful association copy and also includes a 1990 AJC clipping about Price's book signing at the now sadly defunct, and very sorely missed, Oxford Books in Atlanta.
Please feel free to email with questions. Book will be carefully wrapped and shipped in a box.
