Annual Address delivered before the Connecticut Medical Society, at Hartford, May 23, 1889. Sir James Alexander Grant (1831 1920) was an Ontario physician and political figure. As for the author, he is likely the Dr. George Loring Porter of Bridgeport, Conn. (d. 1919) who had been a Union Army surgeon and buried John Wilkes Booth.
