Chengdu: Szechuan Peopleís Publishing House, 1978. First Edition. Hardcover. Fine. 4to. An herbal atlas volume with 333 plates. Limited text, in Chinese. Green textured paper-covered boards, spine and cover with gilt stamped characters, with additional blue lettering on cover. A lovely copy. Sichuan province is by far the greatest provincial cultivator and producer of herbal medicine, supplying the country of China at large. According to one source, of the variety of plants cultivated, about one quarter is now commercialized. Over 200 medicinal plants are exported. These exquisite botanical renderings represent over 300 of the commonly used herbs. A splendid pictorial overview of Sichuan herb cultivation, presented here in a superlative copy with no detracting qualities.
