US: Rest Fenner, 1817. Hardcover. Good. First Edition. Full polished calf boards with bright gilt designs on front, rear and spine. The rear board is completely detached and the front board almost detached. The leather itself is in good condition with some soiling and cracking to the front board, and rubbing to the corners, edges, ends of spine, and the 5 raised bands on the spine. The text block is clean with top edge gilt. The endpages are clean and unmarked, although there is a small ripped patch by the rear inside hinge where the board was torn off. Regarding the interior, the pages are in Near Fine condition, with only scattered oxidation. Includes errata page after page x. A few anomalies: Page iv (the back of page iii) is blank (was this intentional?). There is no Table of Contents (was there one?). And the half title page appears to have been tipped in, although whether at the time of binding or printing is unknown. If the boards had not become detached, given the interior condition we would have classified this copy as Very Good+. Pictures available upon request.
