Alfred Edward Housman (1859-1936) usually known as A.E. Housman, was an English poet and classical scholar, now best known for this cycle of poems. This made him one of the best-loved of his day, his verse demonstrating a simplicity of form that belied its hidden complexities. Haunting woodcut illustrations from Agnes Miller Parker.
