Horseshoe Bay BC: Black Ball Ferries, 1952. (CAD) No markings, fold crease, Good. One sheet folded to form 8 panels front and back. Line map showing ferry rut from Horseshoe Bay to Gibsons and then to Port Mellon. The map shows another proposed route from Pender Harbour to Saltery Bay, slated to operte in 1953. B&W photos, The back panel shows the M.V Chinook which serviced the Victoria to Port Angeles route, and the M.V. Kahloke servicing the Nanaimo to Horseshoe Bay route. The Black Ball ferry route between Horseshoe Bay and Gibsons Landing. Black Ball had American roots. It operated ferries successfully for many years in Washington State waters but this service became so vital that most of its assets were nationalized by the state government on June 1, 1951.
