About This Item
Carlisle: by W Hodgson, 1808 second edition. viii and 94 pages. Frontispiece. Contemporary quarter calf and marbled boards, cancelled label of the Royal United Services Institution, no other library markings. Aldington's ideas on infantry artillery were founded on his own experiences during the American War of Independence. He had little time for riflemen, stating 'the Americans did little with their rifles against us, and Colonel Ferguson, whose men were excellent marksmen, did little against them.'
