Decorative reddish-brown cloth boards nicked, scuffed, rubbed and worn particularly at extremities, spine ends frayed, spine titles faded but legible, corners bumped, some light soiling, foxing to interior, edge tears to several pages. hinges weakened but secure, text tight. Missionary work among "the wretched of a great city..that they may emerge from the deeps of ignorance and sin.[Editor's Preface]." Plate depicting scene outside of mid-19th century Barnum's Museum.
