In very good condition. Some rubbing to cloth on edges and corners of spine and boards. Endpapers clean, no previous owners marks or inscriptions. Some minor tanning to pages, with some occasional minor handling/thumb marks to edges. Page edges rough/uncut. Tissue guards tanned and mildly foxed. Minor tear to edge of guard at frontis. Plates all remain clean and bright. Else a very good clean and tight 1st edition. 195pp. Illustrated with 16 colour mounted plates, and with 29 smaller B&W sketches within text. With decorative coloured letterpieces.
