About This Item
London: William Kimber, 1985. Joan Rees paints a sympathetic portrait of the poet Shelley and describes how he came to meet Jane and the man whose name she took, Ned Williams. Jane became the last love in Shelley's life. The author recreates the whole circle of people surrounding the Shelleys and tells of what happened to them all after the early deaths of both Shelley and Williams. She also traces how the relationship between Mary Shelley and Jane Williams developed over the years, and of how Jane came to live with another of the Shelley circle, as his wife. A list of illustrations given.... many illustrations on heavier semi-gloss stock. Three appendices follow the 12th chapter. This book closes with source notes and index. The front panel of the price-intact dust jacket is a reproduced portrait of Jane Williams by George Clint. This copy is tight, bright and free of any signs of previous ownership.. First Edition. Hard Cover. Near Fine/Very Good.
