About This Item
In 1803, Shebuyev was studying in Rome, but three years later, he was recalled to Saint Petersburg to participate in decorating the Kazan Cathedral. He became Rector of Painting and Sculpture at the Academy in 1832. He was appointed Director of the Imperial Tapestry Manufactory in 1831 and he oversaw the creation of the church canopy at Tsarskoye Selo. He was also named Supervisor of Paintings for Saint Isaac's Cathedral in 1844.
This may be the sole photographic record of him. Undated but certainly before his death in 1855.
Light wear else in very good condition.
