About This Item

Tokyo: Shashin Hyoron-sha, 1972. 1st Edition . Soft cover. Very Good/Very Good. Tokyo: Shasin Hyoron-sha, 1972. First edition. 4to. Signature-bound in printed wraps; stiff dust jacket. 308pp. Creasing to the mildly cocked spine (binding remains secure); small tape ghosts to interior covers. Jacket lightly rubbed, with wear at spine ends. A very good copy of the Provoke co-founder's landmark 1972 work, both a gesture of profound artistic despair and a radical challenge to the representational and material nature of photography, which cemented Moriyama's distinctive aesthetic and is widely regarded as one of the most influential Japanese photobooks of the 20th century. Scarce in the trade and institutionally; our OCLC search efforts locate just nine holdings.
