About This Item

London: Collins; HarperCollins, 2006. First editions. Overall fine.. Complete set of first printings of all 21 books in the Sharpe series, each volume signed on the title page by Cornwell. This historical adventure series follows a single hero, the British soldier Richard Sharpe, through the Napoleonic Wars; through Sharpe's eyes we see Trafalgar, Waterloo, and more. Cornwell has distinguished himself for the depth of historical detail he brings to books, which manages to add richness rather than weight. The series is comprised of: SHARPE'S EAGLE (1981); SHARPE'S GOLD (1981); SHARPE'S COMPANY (1982); SHARPE'S SWORD (1983); SHARPE'S ENEMY (1984); SHARPE'S HONOUR (1985); SHARPE'S REGIMENT (1986); SHARPE'S SEIGE (1987); SHARPE'S RIFLES (1988); SHARPE'S REVENGE (1989); SHARPE'S WATERLOO (1990); SHARPE'S DEVIL (1992); SHARPE'S BATTLE (1995); SHARPE'S TIGER (1997); SHARPE'S TRIUMPH (1998); SHARPE'S FORTRESS (1999); SHARPE'S TRAFALGAR (2000); SHARPE'S PREY (2001); SHARPE'S HAVOC (2003); SHARPE'S ESCAPE (2004); and SHARPE'S FURY (2006). In beautiful condition, with each volume signed, quite a desirable set. 6 volumes 8.25'' x 5.25'' each; 15 volumes 9.25'' x 6'' each (21 total). Original cloth of varying colors, gilt- or silver-lettered spines. In original unclipped color pictorial dust jackets. 266; 250; 280; 319, [1]; 351, [1]; 320; 301, [1]; 319, [1]; 304; 348; 378; 286; 304; 304; 298; 302; [8], 277, [1]; [8], 261, [1]; [14], 380; [10], 351, [1]; [6], 407, [1] pages. Each volume signed by Cornwell on the title page. EAGLE with a few small tape repairs to verso of jacket. REVENGE a trifle cocked; volumes from the 1980s all with primarily marginal toning to text (later volumes clean).
