A Chesterton-Belloc political mystery, set in the year 1979: devious diplomacy, international intrigues, and secret service sleuths are abroad throughout the land. Belloc's humor is evident as he takes shots at living targets and contemporary governments in his satire. Features a female Prime Minister (Thatcher was elected in 1979). First published in the UK in 1928 under the title But Soft -- We Are Observed!. This is the first American edition. Scarce in jacket. The previous owner was Grace M. Von Egloffstein.
