SIGNED by the Author on the title page, tall 8vo, black quarter cloth with gilt lettering on spine over navy blue boards, illustrated with several full-page B&W plates of native Americans taken by the Wannamaker expedition, archival mylar-protected photographic dust jacket (unclipped) with red-colorized photograph of Indians standing before the American flag, 308 pages. Based on years of research into the highly problematic Wannamaker Expedition of 1913 in which 75 Indian reservations were visited by Bureau of Indian Affairs agents who were led by Dr. Dixon, a photographer who wished to record the last redmen, while exhorting them to pledge allegiance to the United States. SIGNED & in EXCEPTIONAL CONDITION: Tight, bright, clean copy. Slight rubbing to upper right corner of front free endpaper. Dust jacket (unclipped) is clean, bright, and with slight ruffling to the top of the dj's spine.
