Synopsis

This short text by Freud was written as a letter addressed to Dr. Fürst for publication in a journal on social medicine and hygiene . Freud's query in this writing consisted of three components: "Can we, in general, supply explanations to children about sexual activity? At what age and how?" Freud proceeds to reject the relevance of the first question, with the argument that any refusal of knowledge would lead the child to find the answers on their own and interpret sex as something that is dirty.
