About This Item
New York: Lancer; Dell; Warner Paperback Library, 1968-1974. Octavo. 18cm. Publisher's original decorated card covers. All very good or better, with light general wear, most often to the spine panel, with "Women who Swing Both Ways" and "Doing It!" showing the most signs of having been read. A representative part of a slew of slightly sleazy, slightly risqué sexuality exposés written by Block in the mid to late 1960's when he was without visible means of support and had a new family to provide for. Actually considered to be quite useful and accurate surveys of changing sexula habits and roles; Block's writing method was to enter into extensive correspondence and research with whatever community he was writing about, sex workers, swingers etc. and seek out primary source information on their habits and practices. The majority of late 60's "Sexuality Study" paperbacks were knocked together by jobbing writers out of two magazine articles and a series of interviews with "Judy, 19 years old, Nudist and Swinger" created out of whole cloth, 3 glasses of scotch, and a pressing need to pay rent this week. Block's integrity as a writer, and his seeming lack of an ability to do anything by halves, shows through even in these pseudonymous pieces.
