Setting The Lawn On Fire

by Friedman, Mack

Condition: Fine/Fine

Madison Wisconsin: Univ of Wisconsin Press, 2005. Book. Fine. Boards. First Edition. 8vo- 8.75 in.. 147 pp. Nearly new, no markings, tight binding. First novel by a writer who also has penned a history of hustler culture. Young Friedman tells the story of Eye (Ivan) from pre-puberty days of sexual experimenting with neighbor boys to a brief stint of art-school moonlighting as a hustler. The protagonist takes a road trip to Mexico where he comes to terms with guilt and troubled memories of his parents. Much of it is written with wry humor but with a dark undercurrent. May be of special interest to fans of John Rechy's memoirs..
