About This Item

NY: Lyons Press. VG PB (advance uncorrected proof). (2001). The New York Times calls this book an almost physical experience because of this unique episode in annals of the sea. . Serpent's coil is the symbol for cyclone. It recounts the amazing story of the Liberty ship Leicester which sailed for New York from England in the summer of 1948, ran into a herricane with the loss of 6 lives, and was abandoned in the mid-Atlantic. It also tells of the Foundation Josephine which tracked the derelict Leicester over a vast distance, found her listing severely, and towed her another thousand miles to Bermuda, where both ships ran into yet another hurricane. A classic of the sea. .
