Rebacked with white cloth, boards worn, some spotting and soiling of text, with library bookplate, tag on spine and remains of pocket, else a very good copy with the signature of J. D. Merritt on the blanks. 1 vols. 8vo. Elias Hicks, the noted Quaker preacher, was "recognized as one of the two or three most effective Quaker preachers of his period." (DAB) He was a leader of the separation in the Society of Friends, one of the branches often referred to as the "Hicksites" after Elias Hicks.
