London: William Mackenzie, 1880. Book. Very Good. Hardcover. First Edition First State. 4to. Not dated but circa 1870 - 80. Bound in the publisher's red polished calf binding with cloth boards and gilt vignette to the front board. The volume has 40 fine highly finished lithographic plates with tissue guards including the half title, with separate letterpress and lithographic title page. Binding in fair condition with rubbing, chipped leather and edges, cloth somewaht water stained. Contents very good and tight, just the occasional spotting to a few tissue guards and letterpress pages, all edges gilt, plates very clean,, original endpapers unmarked, no inscriptions. Internally very clean with worn binding..
